Auto Insurance for Cars, Trucks, SUV’s, and more!

Having the correct coverage and a responsive agent can help get you back on the road quickly if your vehicle is wrecked or damaged by accident, fire, theft, or other covered event. Your policy can also provide protection against medical and legal expenses resulting from injury, loss of life, or property damage caused by an accident involving your vehicle.

An auto insurance policy is a contract between you and an insurance company. You pay a premium, and in exchange, the insurance company promises to pay for specific car/truck/SUV/motorcycle-related financial losses during the term of the policy. Work with Hettler Insurance Agency to determine the best coverage for you.

How Much Auto Insurance is Needed in Texas?

Based in Lubbock, our team understands the insurance needs of our customers. There are state minimum requirements, and then there are policies that adequately protect your personal vehicle, family and other drivers.

Texas requires drivers to pay for accidents they cause, and can include:

  • Liability coverage – to pay for losses you cause others, or:
  • No-fault coverage – to pay you and your passengers for medical and related expenses caused by injuries from a car accident, regardless of who is at fault, or
  • Both liability and no-fault coverage.

Texas drivers must, by law, be able to pay for losses they cause others. Having insurance is the simplest way for most people to pay for the risk of an accident. To finance or lease a car, it is usually necessary to have insurance which covers damage to your vehicle. There are two main policy options:

  • Collision Insurance: Standard collision coverage will pay for any repairs up to the fair market value of your car. Collision coverage usually also comes with an insurance deductible. It’s the amount of money you pay toward repairs before your collision insurance kicks in. The higher the deductible you’re willing to pay, the less the collision coverage will cost.
  • Comprehensive Insurance (Other than Collision): Vandalism, flood, hurricane, theft, windshield damage and fire are all events usually covered by comprehensive automobile insurance. Like collision, comprehensive will pay up to the fair market value of your car (less your insurance deductible.) And although it’s not legally required by any state, you will probably need it if your car is financed.
There is a good chance we cover what you ride. HIA insures a full spectrum of motorcycles from street cycles, Harley Davidson, Hondas, Yamaha, and Kawasaki, cruisers, and touring bikes to dirt bikes and ATVs, considered motorsport insurance.

Oh and don’t forget to tell us if you have taken a safe rider course sponsored by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.

  • Custom parts and equipment: It’s possible to own a bike without custom equipment. But generally, you will need coverage for those shiny pieces.
  • Roadside assistance: Yep, you can purchase roadside assistance!
  • Liability coverage: You can pick the motorcycle liability limits that fit your needs. This coverage protects you from liability arising out an accident. It covers damage to property and injuries to people. Check with our team to find out the cost for buying various limits of liability.
  • Medical coverage: This coverage provides for certain necessary medical expenses for you and any passenger that are the result of an accident.
  • Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage: This coverage typically pays for expenses associated with injury or death from an accident caused by an uninsured, underinsured, or a hit-and-run driver.
It takes more than age to make it a classic. A collector car isn’t just a way to get around. It’s an investment that will continue to appreciate in the coming years.

Do you need insurance for your prized Mustang, Camaro, Charger, Corvette, Thunderbird, or other collector car? Hettler works with several different carriers that cover Classic Cars. Our team of agents can work with you to select the appropriate policy to accommodate coverage needs, miles driven, vehicle age, and vehicle modifications to make sure you have the best policy to meet your needs. Here are some features you should look for when shopping for classic car insurance:

  • Agreed Value: This means the provider will pay you the full (agreed to) amount in the event of a covered total loss, less any applicable deductible. This type of coverage is much better than “actual cash value” or “stated value” that you may get with some companies.
  • Low Mileage Rates: You’re proud of your collector car, so drive it. Not all insurance companies have a mileage limit, but most collector cars should be driven less than 10,000 annual miles to maintain their value.
  • Roadside Assistance: Whether you’re down the street or on a classic rally to New Mexico, you’ll want to find coverage that will flatbed your car to the closest qualified repair facility.
